Ask A Piano Player – Henry Hey
So I got back to New York after being in LA for a few days and managed to make it down to the East Village to catch up with my good friend Henry Hey before he set off on tour for three months as George Micheal’s musical director.
Henry has played with the likes of Jeff ‘Tain’ Watts, Bill Bruford, George Michael, Rod Stewart, Theo Bleckmann and others. To say his list of accomplishments and styles is diverse is an understatement. I didn’t have much time, as Henry was packed and ready to go, so I grabbed my baby daughter, Chloe, both of them a little jet lagged, and headed into Manhattan for a coffee with Henry. He, as always, had wise words for the working bass player.
